ICSI, with the support of the ASCE and Arcadis, has developed an innovation framework for the promotion of resilient and sustainable infrastructure from around the world.
Our strategic partners, Resilience First, in partnership with the International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI), of which we are a founding partner, have today announced the launch of the Engineering Leadership Group (ELG), a new engagement platform to capture the voice of global engineering firms.
Speaking at the closing lecture, Seth Schultz admitted that he had previously been sceptical that the engineering community was willing to make changes in order to deal with the climate emergency. But the profession has shown that it is, and this response was consistent around the world, and from very senior or retired engineers, right down to new graduates.
We are delighted to have launched the Infrastructure Pathways initiative at COP26 this week alongside the International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure and Arup. Infrastructure Pathways aims to develop a clear and consistent framework of existing guidance that practitioners can use to embed climate resilience within infrastructure.
Tapping into creative capabilities and thinking differently are critical for civil engineers to make a meaningful input to the climate crisis, according to The Resilience Shift CEO Seth Schultz, presenting his final lecture in the ICE’s Brunel Lecture series.
Savina Carluccio, ICSI Programme Director, and Resilience Shift Head of Guidance, Tools and Standards, contributes to this piece in Civil Engineering on the unintended vulnerabilities and dependencies in infrastructure that can undermine its resilience.
Register now to hear Seth Schultz deliver the Institution of Civil Engineers’ closing Brunel Lecture (17/1), reflecting on his year-long journey with ICE President, Ed McCann, and on how the engineering community can deliver a carbon-neutral and resilient society.
On 3 Nov 2021, the International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI), of which The Resilience Shift is a Founding Member, hosted a roundtable discussion at the COP26 Wood House in Glasgow. The discussion focussed on issues at the heart of ICSI, and the engineering community’s role in bridging the gaps on climate, sustainability, and resilience for infrastructure. The event brought together key stakeholders in the sector, including ICSI’s Board members, and invited members of the public to join us in exploring the topic at hand.
This paper includes key takeaways from a roundtable discussion hosted by ICSI at COP26, as well as information on newly launched ICSI initiatives.
Ann Allen, CEO of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES), hosted a screening of the first Resilience Engineered episode for CICES members. She shares reflections on the episode with us and highlights key points that were discussed among members following the screening.
Marking a climate breakthrough for the built environment, a coalition of business and government groups announce 26 climate action initiatives at Cities, Regions and Built Environment Day at COP26.
Panellists from Australia and New Zealand discussed collaboration, speaking out, and diversity during the final leg of the virtual Brunel lecture series.
Join us at Glasgow Caledonian University for a special COP26 screening of the first episode of our new documentary series Resilience Engineered
