This content was originally published on The Resilience Shift website. The Resilience Shift, a 5-year programme supported by Lloyd’s Register Foundation and hosted by Arup, transitioned at the end of 2021 to become Resilience Rising. Join us in Melbourne in mid-May to explore the key drivers of best practice for critical infrastructure resilience and the learning from our work on policy and standards.
See details below. To register your interest in attending this event please email mailto:events@resilienceshift.org
The Resilience Shift wants to help those responsible for the financing, planning, design, delivery, operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure systems to understand what can be done to improve critical infrastructure resilience, why it should be done, and how to put it into practice.
This event focuses on the “why’ – seeking to understand through convening a diverse group of stakeholders what drives the take-up of best practice resilience approaches for infrastructure. It will provide an opportunity to hear about some of the work done to date, and to join a structured discussion on what is needed to drive widespread adoption of resilience theory into practice.
Who will I hear from at the event?
- Dr Juliet Mian, Technical Director of the Resilience Shift, will provide an overview of Resilience Shift activities
- Jack Hogan from Arup’s San Francisco office will present highlights of work undertaken for the Resilience Shift to identify best practice in several industry sectors and the incentives driving this practice.
- Defining critical infrastructure policy in collaboration with the University of Melbourne – Dr Svenja Keele
- The role of legislation in collaboration with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology – Dr Nader Naderpajouh
- The journey of the IS rating tool from initial idea to widespread usage – Nation Partners
- How PPPs drive resilience in collaboration with Arup Economics – Elisa McLennan
How do I contribute to the knowledge base?
Following the research presentations, a workshop session will explore the challenges faced by participants to implement resilience thinking for their organisation and sector. What part can each play in the resilience value chain?
This session will involve short presentations from industry, government and research, and interactive activities.
Participants will help optimise the application of Resilience Shift activities and build the collaborative effort to generate policy that supports critical infrastructure resilience in future.
